Some More of God’s Greatest Mistakes

In the home there are two prevalent customer reactions to 2ndSkin.  These were classified as the avoidant and dependant types by psychologists on our market research team.

The avoidant reaction is currently displayed by approximately 47% of the customer base.  It is typified by an extreme discomfort with the presence of their 2ndSkin after its removal.  This manifests itself by the consumer storing the 2ndSkin in a room that can be avoided in the consumers other daily activities.  For instance, a typical avoidant might return home and go directly into the least used bathroom he owns to remove the 2ndSkin.  He would clean it and fold it carefully, put it in the bathroom closet, and shut the bathroom door upon leaving.  Then he would use a different bathroom for all his subsequent hygeine needs.

Avoidants generally remove the skin immediately upon reaching home and in extreme cases may even have some family or social gatherings that they attend in traditional clothing only, choosing to forgo the protective and health benefits of 2ndSkin for hours or even days at a time.  Interestingly enough, the team found no sigificant difference in the use of 2ndSkin’s appearance modifying functions.  Avoidants are just as likely to erase pervieved flaws and make their faces more symmetrical, and as likely as any group to experiment with colors, patterns, pseudo-tattoing, etc.  It is only when the skin has been removed that any discomfort with the product reveals itself.

The dependant reaction manifests itself in a slightly smaller number of our customers, approximately 30% (although projections show this segment is growing rapidly).  Dependant customers remove their 2ndSkin rarely, even while alone.  They remove it for cleaning only, choosing to remain inside it even during sleep periods.  As with the 1st group there is no discernable difference in the ways they alter their appearance with their 2ndSkin- although some of the more daring uses of the 2ndSkin technology were found in this group there were many more who made only subtle changes to mildly enhance their physical attractiveness.

Although the over-use of 2ndSkin by the dependent type could possibly shorten the lifespan of the product we are more concerned by the deep-seated discomfort with the product betrayed by the avoidant reaction.  We believe that a campaign to make discarded 2ndSkins more appealing could reduce customer discomfort and suggest that R & D be involved as well to find ways to mitigate the unnatractiveness of the 2ndSkin immediately before and after it is worn by a customer.
