Some More of God’s Greatest Mistakes

if my voice was stolen by wolves

things could be worse if, for instance, my voice had been stolen by a pack of wolves.

sarcastic local news anchors laugh as they report that a family back from a camping trip are claiming to have heard the whispers of a wolf pack co-ordinating their attack before a hunt.

less amusing was the disappearance of a young man who went hiking alone in the national forest last week.  search and rescue teams found no sign of him, but i have.  i found a half chewed backpack in my barn this morning.

the wolves gather in my barn at night, and they whisper to each other in my voice.  i slink out to my barn and listen, to have the chance to hear my own voice again.  it’s strange to hear my voice in a wolf’s throat planning a hunt for jackrabbits, or to stake-out a bear’s den so they can learn the habits of the mother and try to catch her cubs in some unprotected moment.

soon it will be hunting season.  the wolves have whispered plans to take hunters unaware, distracting them by flushing game ahead of them so the main pack can set upon them from behind.  i wonder if they’ll hide the evidence in my barn.  or perhaps they plan to leave the corpses in the open so as to put the human population on notice?

somehow i doubt the anchors will deploy their cheesy jokes and false smiles with that story.

Almost as, if you were now saying that MamaV isn’t that insane after all, but actually did hear the wolves’ whisper during her scary camping trip (to Paris : )

Not that you speak of pro anas, but aren’t they your wolves, and among them tinkles your now calmed voice, making you wistful as you hear the familiar sound, and resistant as you hear their tidings.

I’m happy you went to the meeting : )

aren’t we the ones who pushed the wolves out, chopped down their forests and hunted both them and their prey animals?

maybe sometimes the wolves need our voices more than we do? but you’re right that it’s ironic that i came up with this story on the same day as i defended pro ana (once again). maybe my voice really has been stolen by wolves. but i’m not a black and white anti-wolf person, either.
